THE DRUMS
Two highly-sought after vintage drum kits were chosen by Abbey Road and Native Instruments sound engineers to give two highly distinctive 70s drum sounds.
The Open Kit is a Ludwig™ Vistalite Tequila Sunrise from 1972 with a 26" kick drum, 14" rack tom and 16" and 18" floor toms. Recorded in the legendary Studio Two of Abbey Road, this kit provides the big roomy sound immortalized on countless classic rock recordings.
The Tight Kit is a vintage 1970s Premier model with 22" kick drum, 13" rack tom, 14" and 16" floor toms. The samples from this kit were also recorded in Studio Two of Abbey Road, but dedicated acoustic panels were put around the kit to achieve the tight, punchy and dry sound that was very popular throughout the 70s.

As the name suggests, DRUMASONIC represents a high-end approach: In sampling one of the best, modern and universal sounding drum kits along with some of the finest snare drums, hihat, ride, crash, china and splash cymbals, no sound-altering devices have been employed. All the signals have been converted with high-end equipment directly after the preamps at 96 kHz, 24 bit. The goal was to provide the discerning musician, sound technician or producer – in the sense of authentic drum miking – a variety of phase-compatible, freely combinable and distributable signals out of two distinct recording rooms. Instead of delivering pre-defined sounds or tons of patches, DRUMASONIC addresses its focus on tonal authenticity, signal purity and mixing flexibility.

DRUMASONIC 1.5 New Features:

Plastique is a hard hitting rock kit with tone and punch for miles. This kit will drive a classic rock track with authority and add flavour to fusion and pop pieces.
The kit itself is a vintage 1970s Ludwig Vistalite in Bonhamesque configuration and tuning, including two vintage Ludwig Supraphonic snares and Paiste 2002 cymbals. The kit was sampled in a big room with plenty of character imparting an expansive sound on these samples. As usual we've used nothing but the finest gear to capture the kit, including Neumann mics, a vintage Neve desk, API and Chandler preamps and a roll of 2" tape.

Round robin: each velocity layer contains 6 round-robin samples, played randomly to ensure realistic performances.

Drums of War 2 is the newest member to the cinesamples percussion family, and its parents are beaming. Following in the scope of the original Drums of War this new volume takes a different approach to achieving massive-percussive impact. Whereas the paramount concept of DOW 1 was recording huge orchestral drums in a huge space this time we used specific instrumentation/production techniques to achieve our result. DOW 2 contains entirely new sample content and entirely new instruments – those which we have never sampled before. The foundation of this library being the mighty taikos.
The hallmark of this library lies within the recordings. DOW 2 utilizes a combination close/stage mix with wonderfully rich character – a driving, powerful tone. If you could use one word to describe this sound it would most certainly be “tight”. But the real magic lies in whats going on in the stereo field. DOW 2 uses double, triple, and quadruple tracking – mapped down to one sample and therefore one key – allowing you to trigger this labor intensive studio-process which a single keystroke. Aside from being an ultimate timesaver, its also like having a renowned professional percussionist and mixer sitting in on your track. Each sample contains that delightful mini-flamming (without phasing) from the percussionist and that ultra-balanced wide panorama from the mixer. If you like to construct your own layers we’ve made the solo patches available too.
All DOW 2 percussion was sampled in 24/48 with the best gear, in a fantastic Los Angeles studio, by one of Hollywood’s most in-demand percussionists. Everything recorded with 10xRR and up to 10 velocity layers.

For the recordings he brought in his A-team consisting of engineer Steve Evetts (Sepultura) and drummer Jeff Freidl (Ashes Divide, Puscifer). The result is pure adrenaline!
Ludwig Classic Maple Drumkit
With thunderous toms, a heavy kick drum, a sharp but balanced snare drum and vicious Zildjian cymbals this kit really delivers in any kind of style in metal. Simmons SDS-V
The e-drum kit that started it all. Our massive setup of analog modules were sampled with painstaking detail. Backed up by a Simmons Digital ClapTrap. The original SDS-V came with five modules and two expansion slots for up to seven modules. Our kit uses close to 40 modules to create all the varied stroke types.
Simmons drums have been used by artists like Duran Duran, Rush, Nine Inch Nails, Van Halen, Spandau Ballet, Tool, Prince, Depeche Mode, Queen and Genesis.
Linn Electronics LinnDrum
LinnDrum is the successor to the first sampled based drum machine, the LM-1. Featuring all fifteen original sounds with a large number of new custom tweaked stroke types. The Linndrum was the cutting edge of technology at the time of its release. Featuring 35 kilohertz samples, individual outputs and trigger inputs.
The LinnDrum can be heard on albums from artists like Peter Gabriel, Sting, Prince, Madonna, Human League and Thompson Twins.
+3 Additional Kits
Reel Machines also comes with three full additional kits. The 808, 909 and DMX with samples inspired by classic rhythm machines from the eightes.
The 808 has a deep analog kick with a snappy snare, great for a wide range of electronic styles. The 909 is a hybrid analog and sampled machine with a punchy kick and snare, making it the excellent partner for dance music. Last but not least the DMX with short and dry samples is the perfect kit for old school hiphop and rap.
Kitpieces
Reel Machines includes 60 unique kitpieces plus an additional five sets of kick and snare combos for use in the Xtras slot. The kitpieces have the same amount of stroke types as the acoustic drums in Addictive Drums. Making Reel Machines one of the the most expressive and varied collection of electronic sounds you've heard.
Adjustable Tape Saturation
The kick and snare samples in Reel Machines were recorded on a two channel half inch Ampex tape machine with heavy saturation. By using the kick and snare microphone settings you can mix between the clean and the saturated signal.
Kick drums:
Beater is the clean signal while front is heavily saturated on all drum machines. The Simmons SDS-V uses virtual mic positioning instead.
Snare drums:
Top is the clean signal while bottom is heavily saturated on the LinnDrum and DMX. The Simmons SDS-V, 808 and 909 uses virtual mic positioning instead.
Kick/Snare Xtras
All kits in Reel Machines have an additional Xtras kitpiece with a kick and snare combo. This can be used for extra variation or to layer sounds and get precisely the snare or kick you're after. Check the keymap in Addictive Drums for the Xtra A and Xtra B stroke types.
Presets & Beats
Reel Machines comes with 50 presets and 240 MIDI Grooves. All presets have matching beats with rhythms made specifically for a certain set of sounds. But the presets are also compatible with grooves from other ADpaks and vice versa. Use a distorted drum & bass preset with a slow hip hop groove, or try a motown kit with a techno beat.
